  • Jewellery Courses

Just had an idea. Do any members offer introductory jewellery courses to the public. If so, how do you promote them?

How about, if you have an Odissa shop, you could list them in Odissa and take bookings directly through it as well as listing products? Same applies for members offering more advanced courses, these could be run through Odissa Connect on a more professional level.

    Wotcha fink?

    Hi Alan,

Thanks for your email and question about members who run courses.

I'd be very interested in listing my courses somewhere on the GoJD site however I already have my own booking system so I don't know if listing them in my Odissa shop would work. My courses are date dependent and my booking system allows people to pick a date when booking.

    Hope this helps.

      Hi Alan

Promoting jewellery courses on Odissa and Odissa Connect is a great idea.

I'm always keen to attract new students, and not only beginners. Odissa's connection to the GoJD could facilitate "Master Classes" in which members could exchange skills and improve techniques. I'd offer specialised one day workshops covering enamelling, lapidary, gem setting, silicone mould making and wax carving. For myself I'd like to learn more about electroplating, electroforming, diamond setting, engraving and die-sinking.

Last year I started listing my courses on CraftCourses.com they offer Gift Vouchers so that craft courses can be given as gifts.

Best wishes with this valuable new opportunity.

      Ricky.

        Thanks for the feedback everyone.
I think this could be a good idea on both counts for establishing Odissa as a jewellery marketplace platform with a difference and to help members with courses promote their services. Ideas for this are coming thick and fast and I've given the go ahead to install the changes so brace yerselves folks!

Are you offering taster courses to the public, more professional level courses or both, Mark?
